2011 Christmas Boat Parade
The 2011 Daytona Beach Christmas Boat Parade drew thousands of people who watched the beautifully decorated boats from bridges, streets, restaurants, and homes. Nineteen Captains paraded their boats, with twinkling lights and Christmas cheer, down the IntraCoastal Waterway into the Halifax River Yacht Club’s North Basin for judging. A “new boater” award drew five new boats (this year). First place awards went to:
Sail—Owner Terri Burnett on “Hannah B.”
Power—under 35 feet—Owner Kip Miller on “Miller Time”
Power—36 to 45 feet—Owner Bob Bittner on “Sun Fun”
Power–46 feet and up—Owner Glen Wagner on “Kelly Lynn”
The HRYC Club Members chose “Kelly Lynn” as the Club Member Favorite, and Mark Garrett on “Landau” won the New Boater award.
Thank you to the sponsors and boaters for “the best boat parade ever,” sentiments spoken by many spectators. For a list of the sponsors and pictures of all the boats, go to the parade’s website.
